This year’s penny war has been highly successful as usual. Students regularly come to school armed with a huge grin and a pocket full of change ready to do their part for their team.

Due to popular demand, we have decided to extend the penny war until Talmud Torah Shabbat. Keep up the strong effort!

Even though Chanukah shopping is now behind us, don’t forget to take advantage of the fantastic deals available on magazine subscriptions through QSP. Every magazine ordered provides money for Talmud Torah.

Please visit QSP and make sure to enter Group #18453 when shopping.

Last term ended on a real high, as our Chanukah party was one of the best in recent memory. Students and parents enjoyed a Chanukah sing-along, games, activities, delicious treats (including donuts they made themselves), and special guest, Spartacat!

Special thanks to Morah Miriam, Rabbi Braun, substitute teacher Gaby Scarowsky, and especially Rabbi Koff for their hard work in making sure the party ran as planned despite my absence.

Talmud Torah class pictures were taken last term in all classes. However, as not all students were present and the final pictures weren't fully satisfactory, we have decided to schedule two photo retake days.

Class pictures will be taken once again on Sunday, January 29th and Tuesday, January 31st. All students should endeavour to be present and to dress appropriately for photos.

Comedy Night
The board is currently exploring the possibility of a comedy night at Yuk Yuk’s for parents and friends of Talmud Torah. This would be a social event for Talmud Torah families and would also act as a fundraiser for the school.

As I perform at Yuk Yuk’s regularly, I would likely be one of the featured comedians. I have to imagine that seeing the rabbi do stand-up is worth the price of admission alone! Details TBA.

Town Hall Meeting
The Talmud Torah parent board has decided to hold a general town hall meeting on Sunday, February 5th for all school parents.

The meeting will be to discuss ideas related to the long-term success of our school. Details will follow in a separate message from the board.
